India's agri- and processed-food exports increased by 31% in the first quarter.

New Delhi, India, August 6: According to official data published on Saturday, India's agricultural and processed food products exports increased by 31 percent to USD 7,408 million in the first three months of the current financial year.The overall export of APEDA products increased to $7,408 million in April-June 2022 from $5,663 million in the same period the previous fiscal, according to the provisional figures published by the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S).APEDA's provisional data shows that fresh fruits and vegetables increased by 4% during the first quarter of the current year, while processed fruit and vegetables increased by 37.76 percent in comparison to the corresponding months of the previous year.Exports of processed F&V increased to $490 million in Q1 of the new fiscal year, down from $307 million in the preceding months.

In the first three months of the current fiscal, non-basmati rice exports increased to $1566 million from $1491 million in the previous year's corresponding months.The export of meat, dairy, and poultry products increased by 9.5%, and the export of other cereals increased by 29 percent.According to a statement released by APEDA, the country's dairy products exports increased by 19.92 percent in the first three months of the current fiscal year, from $191 million to $306 million in the corresponding months of the previous year, and livestock exports increased from $1022 million in April-June 2021 to $1120 million in April-June 2022.According to an official statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the growth rate for agricultural and processed food exports is high as it is outpacing the 17.66 percent growth rate of $41.87 billion achieved in 2020-21, which is about 51% of India's total agricultural and processed food exports at $50 billion.
