India's daily Covid count is at a 124-day high with over 17,000

India has seen a 124-day high of 17,200 Covid-19 infections . The total for Thursday was the highest in the country since February 19 .

On Thursday, India experienced another surge in Covid-19 infections, with daily infections reaching a 124-day high of more than 17,200 on the back of increased testing.According to the Covid database, this was a significant jump from the previous days' total of 13,316, the highest single-day increase in cases since the current surge that began earlier this month.The total for Thursday was the highest in the country since February 19.The week's figures came from a smaller number of tests the day before, which had resulted in the national positivity rate soaring to almost 4.3 percent.

Maharashtra reported 5,218 new cases, the highest single-day increase since February 11.Delhi reported (1,934 cases, the most since February 4).The days toll from the virus had fallen to nine.
