Varanasi: Cops from the Bhadohi district arrested an interstate group of sheep thieves by apprehending five members and obtaining 97 stolen sheep.The group was based in the east UP by boarding an SUV from Madhya Pradesh.When talking to SP bhadohi Anil Kumar on Sunday, a team busted this group, which was giving sleepless nights to shepherds of Bhadohi and adjoining districts by looting their animals of many lakhs rupees in recent months, said Kumar.Moreover, the cops cordoned Kathautamod area within the boundaries of Gopiganj police station and began probing the vehicles.

The cops also recovered 97 sheep on tip-off, apart from an SUV and a country-built revolver.In the last month, all these sheep had been taken from the villages of Gopiganj, Auraai, and Gyanpur police station districts, he said, adding that his police force had been given a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for this feat.During initial interrogation, the detained thieves confessed to doing recce of shepherds in the day and attacking their sheep in late night.To escape attention of anyone, they took the sheep and drove it to Chitrakoot in a van.
