IOCL laid underground natural gas pipeline for up to 75 kilometers in Coimbatore district . Under scheme, IOCL will lay the underground gas pipeline for 212 kilometers .

Coimbatore: IOCL, the company that runs the city gas distribution network, has laid the underground natural gas pipeline for up to 75 kilometers in the district in the ninth round of bidding conducted by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board in August 2018.Under the scheme, IOCL will lay the underground gas pipeline for 212 kilometers, develop 273 CNG stations, and provide 9,12,783 domestic piped natural gas connections.By the end of this year, we hope to have piped natural gas to households along the Kurichi-Malumichampatti stretch.It is equipped with a pressure reduction-cum-regulating skid with a capacity of 13,000 standard cubic meters per hour.

According to Suresh, the district's CNG network will be expanded to 41 stations by the end of the current fiscal year.Referring to the customers who are converting their cars to CNG, he said the same must be done by using a RTO approved retrofitting facility.Later, they will need to upgrade their insurance and confirm their CNG registration certificate.
