New Delhi (India), December 8: Singh said that the government of the Union Territory of Ladakh has contacted the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), a unit of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), for creating Geo-Ladakh for UT-Ladakh, according to Singh.Singh said the initiative also aims to prepare UT-Ladakh officials on Geospatial techniques and applications.For UT-Ladakh, a portal for geospatial data visualization and analysis includes a Spatial viewer, Carbon Neutrality, Geospatial utility mapping, and Geo-Tourism.On January 1, 2022, IIRS (ISRO) and the UT-Ladakh Administration signed a Memorandum of Understanding on their respective missions, he said.Singh said that space technology's potential can be used to create a spatial database on time series snow cover, freshwater availability, sites with renewable energy potential (solar and wind), availability of alpine pasturesgrazing lands for natural resource management and change analysis at a time.
