RANCHI: According to Chandrajit Mukherjee, the Jharkhand high court expressed disappointment on Thursday over chief minister Hemant Sorens' counsel Amritansh Vats' conduct, which had been defending him in a public interest lawsuit about Soren and his family members operating shell companies but had filed the vakalatnama only a few days before.A vakalatnama is a written order by a client to his counsel for him to pleading and argue a lawsuit on his behalf.When preparing for the CM in the lawsuit, Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad were astonished by the fact that Vats initially did not have a vakalatnama.Vats said he filed the vakalatnama a few days earlier.

Arora claims she hasn't been given all of the petitioner's papers, she said.The bench replied by claiming that Mukul Rohtagi, a senior advocate who had appeared for Soren and had never addressed the issue of petitions not being served.Vats was Soren's local counsel and was responsible for receiving the petitions.It was discovered that Vats had appeared in the case on several occasions without a proper vakalatnama executed by Soren, according to further investigation.
