KANPUR: A 68-year-old woman died after a police raid on her home in the Narwal area of the district.The family members suing the police alleged that the woman succumbed to police harassment.On Wednesday, a police team reached Rajeshwari Devis' home and arrested her son Nitendra on suspicion of assault brought by a local -Ram Shankar.Ram Shankar has stated that Nitendra had brutally struck him when he was mistakenly hit by his bike.

On late Thursday night, her family, along with locals, staged a protest preventing the woman's body from being displayed in front of the Narwal police station, demanding that the accused policemen and Ram Shankar be charged immediately.The agitating family members were calmed by senior police officers who arrived on the spot.On Ram Shankar's complaint, Inspector Rambabu Singh reported that Nitendra's report was not cognizable.The allegation of police brutality is baseless, according to the official, adding that the old lady was already ill, that she complained of high blood pressure on Thursday and succumbed.
