Karnataka chief minister on Maharashtra's boundary dispute: "We will prevail in court."

Karnataka and Maharashtra governments have approached the Supreme Court to expedite the case . Both states sought to reopen their borders with Karnataka before the Gujarat elections in 1956 .

On Tuesday, Bengaluru (Karnataka) India : Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that Karnataka would win the court battle with Maharashtra over the border issue between the two states.These tensions are exacerbated by Maharashtra.Both states have prospered, and I am confident that we will win the court fight, CM Bommai said in a statement to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, a day after urging them to resolve the border dispute issue lawfully.We are not only committed to safeguarding the Kannadigas in Maharastra, Kerala, and Telangana, but we're also committed to protecting them.

Both states sought to reopen their borders with Karnataka before the Gujarat elections in 1956.The Maharashtra government had expressed an offer to relocate 260 villages that were predominantly Kannada-speaking, but Karnataka declined.Both the Karnataka and Maharashtra governments have approached the Supreme Court to expedite the case, as it is still pending.Interestingly, Bommai made the aforesaid remarks when meeting with Cabinet Minister Govind Karajol to pay tribute to Dr. BR Ambedakar on his death anniversary.
