Kerala Gold Smuggling Case: ED questions Swapna Suresh once more for over six hours

Swapna Suresh was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate for almost five and a half hours . She was questioned about her 164 statement at the court .

On Thursday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned Swapna Suresh, the prime suspect in the Kerala Gold Smuggling Case for almost five and a half hours.Suresh was also interrogated for five and a half hours by the federal government on Wednesday.According to Suresh, 11 hours of interrogation have passed for the two days in a row.She was questioned about her 164 statement at the court, and allegations against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his family became controversial.Suresh later admitted to the involvement of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, his wife, and his daughter in the case.

Vijayan was reportedly in Dubai in 2016.The Kerala gold smuggling case concerned the illegal trading of gold in the state via diplomatic channels.Swapna was released from jail in November last year after a 30 kg gold worth Rs 14.82 crore was smuggled in a parcel disguised as diplomatic baggage busted by the customs department in Thiruvananthapuram on July 5, 2019.Swapna Suresh, the main secretary of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, said she was abused and manipulated by Sivasankar, who was released on October 28, 2020, after the Kerala High Court refused her anticipatory bail request.Sivasankar was released on bail on February 4, last year.
