Thiruvananthapuram: After the suspension of a months-long demonstration in favour of the under-construction Vizhinjam sea port, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Wednesday that his government has sincerely committed to the improvement of the state's infrastructure, which forms the basis for Kerala's sustainable economic development, and that the procedure is the same in the case of Vizhinjam port, he said in a statement issued in the Assembly under Rule Two months rent will be paid in advance.Vijayan said that a government order dated September 1, 2022 would give Rs 5500 as a monthly rent.He said that negotiations would be held on the layout of the houses being built.Vicar General Eugene Pereira, who has been instrumental in the demonstrations, announced that the Vizhinjam sea port would be operating at full speed in two weeks, and that the panel appointed by the government to study coastal erosion will consult with fishermen's experts soon.Mr Vijayan also praised the fishermen who lost jobs while on the subject of the Vizhinjam issue, saying that a one-time subsidy would be provided soon.
