PATNA: On Friday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar joined a virtual meeting convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address issues relating to India's G20 presidency. The JD(U) had not invited any representative to attend the all-party meeting, which the Prime Minister called on December 5 to discuss the situation. After the humiliating Kurhani bypoll loss, BJP Rajya Sabha member Sushil Kumar Modi (SuMo) said Nitish may have been compelled to reconsider his position.Under Nitish's leadership, the Grand Alliance has lost two of the three byelections held recently.
Nitish may have realized by now that neither his group nor his employees were content with his decision to join hands with Lalu Prasad, he said.Since betraying the BJP once more, Nitish does not have the confidence to talk to him face-to-face.In a physical meeting, we meet face to face, but SuMo claims that online meeting is not difficult.According to the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), the CM attended the meeting with the PM because he believed that too much opposition might lead to disaster, as seen in the Kurhani bypoll that JD(U) abandoned despite every effort. This seems to have prompted the CM to do a volte-face.According to LJP (RV) state chief spokesperson Rajesh Bhatt, his party had cancelled the first meeting with the PM over the G20 summit barely four days earlier. The chief ministers' proposal to join PM Modis meeting, according to JD(U), should not be read into it.
