In his second Group A match, India's HS Prannoy lost in three games to China's Lu Guang Zu, leaving the semifinals on Thursday in the BWF World Tour Finalson.The 30-year-old from Kerala, who had lost to the same opponent in his only meeting at the French Open this season, put up a brave effort but couldnt quite go the distance, losing 21-23 21-17 19-21 in a grueling 84-minute contest.Following a narrow loss to Japans Kodai Naraoka in Group A, the world no.12 Indian will meet world number one and Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen in their final Group A match on Friday.

After resuming, Prannoy tried to dominate the rallies and took a two-point lead at 18-19 before pulling back at 19-19 with a great smash.The Indian saved a second game point by using a quick backhand reflex, but the Chinese sealed the game this time around with a sharp return on the backline, but Lu managed to grab a one-point cushion in the second game, when Prannoy caught up with his rival at 6-6 before going long again.The Indian scored 18-13 after a tough return, and roared back into the game after another net duel.Prannoy controlled the pace of the rallies in the decider and took a 6-3 lead after a lucky net chord.However, mistakes crept up in his game as Prannoy rushed on to a couple of shots and allowed Lu to turn the tables at 7-6.Lu held the lead until 15-12 when Prannoy performed a mini recovery to reclaim it at 16-16.
