Madhya Pradesh: Bus plunges into gorge, killing 5, injuring 25 near Mhow

Bus driver lost control of it and fell into a 50-foot wide canyon in the middle of Bherughat . Five people died on the spot, while another 25 others were injured .

MHOW (MP): According to a police officer, the bus they were riding in plunged into a 50-feet-deep gorge near here in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday afternoon.According to Simrol police station in charge R S Bhadoriya, the bus driver was trying to overtake another vehicle.The bus driver lost control of it and fell into a 50-foot wide canyon in the middle of Bherughat.According to him, a large number of local residents and the police department arrived at the scene and rescued the passengers after some passersby alerted them.

According to him, the wounded were taken to hospitals in Mhow and Indore.Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief of Madhya Pradesh, expressed sadness over the tragedy and wished for the passengers' speedy recovery.Officials said the government provided a financial contribution of Rs 4 lakh to the families of each deceased and Rs 50,000 to each injured.
