Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) (India) — January 7, 2019 — The Kerala government has named Mallika Sarabhai, a well-known classical dancer, as chancellor of Kerala Kalamandalam, Deemed to be University for Art and Culture, as its chancellor in November 2022.In view of the above, the Kerala governor stated that it is his duty to ensure that nominations based on favoritism and nepot I would not allow this as long as I am here.Only people who are qualified and follow all the UGC requirements will be selected, according to the governor.Further, a governor who believes that someone in the CM's office is telling the CM to name his relatives and that, if the CM does not know about it, it shows how incompetent he is.If he knows about it, he is equally guilty.
The governor requested the resignations of vice-chancellors of nine universities, including Kannur University, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, University of Calicut, and Thunachachan Malayalam University.
