Manik Bhattacharya, a TMC MLA, is linked to a primary teachers recruitment scam with properties worth Rs 8 crore.

Enforcement Directorate provisibly attached movable properties worth Rs 8 Crore belonging to Manik Bhattacharya . The money was deposited in the form of a bank balance in 61 accounts and mutual funds linked in the name of friends and relatives of Manik Bhattacharya, who died in 2016 .

According to official reports, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) provisibly attached movable properties worth Rs 8 Crore belonging to Trinamool Congress MLA Manik Bhattacharya and his family members in the Primary Teachers Recruitment Scam in West Bengal on Thursday.According to the ED, the money was deposited in the form of a bank balance in 61 accounts and mutual funds linked in the name of friends and relatives of Manik Bhattacharya, who died in 2016.Manik Bhattacharya, MLA, TMC, and the Ex-President of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education were also arrested in the Teachers Recruitment Scam in West Bengal on October 10, 2022, owing to his active and direct involvement in the offence of money laundering as well as his continuing non-cooperation with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) probe.In this recruiting spree, ED has already confiscated cash worth Rs 49.80 Crore, gold jewellery worth more than Rs 5.08 Crore, and provisionally attached properties worth Rs 48.22 Crore.
