Manik Saha, a man of many hats who will lead Tripura's BJP-led government

Dr Manik Saha is the new chief minister of Tripura . He was elected the leader of the BJP legislature party just hours after Biplab Deb resigned .

Dr Manik Saha, the BJP's new chief minister of Tripura, is a Rajya Sabha MP and leader of the party in the state, which will vote by March next year, is expected to lead the party to victory in the assembly polls in a multi-cornered contest in the northeastern state, where the Trinamool Congress is also hoping to emerge as a leading force.Dr. Saha, 69, was elected the leader of the BJP legislature party just hours after Biplab Deb.resigned.Dr Saha joined the BJP in 2016 after leaving the party, taking the oath as Tripura's 11th Chief Minister.

He has been involved in outreach at the grassroots and supporting the marginalized since being seen as transparent and accessible.Dr Saha was born in 1953 in an Agartala business family and has an active interest in sports.He has been an athlete throughout his college years and was president of the Tripura Cricket Association.He received his degree from the Government Dental College Patna and King Georges Medical College, Lucknow.
