Patna (Patna): As the Guwahati-Jammu Tawi Amarnath Express was diverted to the wrong route on Thursday, the station master (SM) of Bachhwara Junction, Kundan Kumar, and his assistant SM Suraj Kumar were suspended on Friday for dereliction of duty. The train was supposed to travel via Samastipur but was delayed from Bacchawara Junction on the Shahpur Patori-Hajipur route.Railwayways also launched an investigation to determine the extent of all the operational personnel involved in diverting the train (15653) to the wrong route.Bachhwara Junction is a major point for originating or passing long-distance mail and express trains, according to Sonepur divisional railway manager (DRM) Neelmani.

According to the DRM, the station masters were found to have missed the Guwahati-Jamath Express on the Hajipur route rather than Samastipur, and the train was delayed for approximately 45 minutes due to reversing it on the correct tracks, according to sources. The train was then reversed to Bachhwara Junction, a stretch of about 1km from the station.More heads will roll after the submission of the complete inquiry report in such a significant mistake, according to him.In April and May, a loco pilot stopped a passenger train at an illegal station near Siwan to sip a cup of tea and then abandon a train to consume liquor near a railway station in the ECR's Samastipur division.
