MEA: Over 200 victims of Indian labour swindles were rescued from Myanmar.

153 Indians have already been repatriated to India . Around 364-367 Indians have been repatriated to India from Laos .

New Delhi (India), November 24: Over 200 Indians have been saved from Myanmar, according to Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi, who spoke to the presser at the weekly media briefing on Thursday.Bagchi said, We've managed to rescue over 200 people, of whom 153 have already been repatriated to India.The remaining 50 people are being repatriated.Many of them are in Thailand's detention and waiting for regulations.

We're in touch with Thailand's officials.He said that the Indian mission in Yangon, Bangkok, and the Chiang Mai Consulate has been actively investigating cases of Indians being stranded in Myanmar's fake employment rackets.Around 364-367 Indians have been repatriated to India from Laos, and 11 are expected to arrive today.More than 100 people are from Cambodia, according to him.We've issued an alert and asked Myanmar and Thailand to give priority to this issue.

During his trip to Myanmar, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra met with senior officials of Myanmar and discussed the issue of human trafficking by international crime syndicates based in the Myawaddy area of Myanmar, where many Indian nationals have been captured, and discussed bilateral development cooperation initiatives, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
