Mission Shakti 4: Self-defense instruction for young females in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, April 11, 2019: The Yogi Adityanath government will provide self-defense training in the upper primary and composite schools as part of Mission Shakti's fourth phase.This is being done to ensure the safety and well-being of girls and their physical and mental independence.According to a government spokeswoman, there has been a significant decrease in crimes against women in the state in the last five-and-a-half years due to a system of zero tolerance for crime and criminals.According to a spokesman, the girl students will be taught under the Rani Laxmi Bai self-defence curriculum to ensure their full safety.

A guide to the learning of the girls has been devised.This course will start in December 2022 and run until February 2023.During the stipulated period for physical education, dance, and music, health and physical fitness instructors and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV) sports instructors will provide instruction to all the girls who enroll in the academy.The instruction will be carried out under the supervision of the school's headmaster.

A mock drill will be carried out with the children during the first week of the program to make them aware of the safety policies, regulations, and helpline numbers.For ease of reference, a booklet prepared by the Women and Child Protection Organization Headquarters, 1090 Lucknow, based on current laws concerning crimes against women and children, will also be read and discussed in depth with them.In 746 KGBVs in the upper primary schools and composite schools under Samagra Shiksha, a total of 10,158 health and physical education instructors and 10,904 instructors and teachers are currently serving.
