Mithilesh gets AIFF nod for state football association

Jharkhand water resources minister Mithilesh Kumar Thakur is recognized by the All India Football Federation . Thakur was elected president of the Jharkhand Football Association earlier in May .

Ranchi (Jharkhand): Mithilesh Kumar Thakur, the state water resources minister, announced on Tuesday that the All India Football Federation (AIFF) had recognized him less than two weeks after he was elected president of the Jharkhand Football Association (JFA).The JFA has been mired in controversy, he said.There were a few in the organisation that were not interested in the sport's welfare or bringing out new talents but wanted to hold on to office positions for their own gain.This is going to change.

Nazam Ansari, the ousted JFA president, confirmed that he would contest Thakurs' election in the high court this week, claiming that no voting was held to select the new president.On May 13, Thakur received a letter from AIFF secretary Kushal Das that confirmed that JFA had become an AIFF member.In the annual general meeting held in Dhanbad earlier in the first week of May, Thakur was elected president and Ghulam Rabbani was re-elected as the secretary of JFA.
