LUCKNOW: In a 23-year-old Gangsters Act lawsuit, the Allahabad high court sentenced don-turned-politician and former MLA Mukhtar Ansari to five-year rigorous jail.He was fined Rs 50,000 by the HC.In 2020, Justice D K Singh overturned the order acquitting a special MP-MLA court.Since Mukhtar is already in prison, the bench said that there is no reason to issue a surrender order for him.

In 2021, the state filed an appeal against acquittal.The bench ruled that the state governments' appeal was premature, and that the special MP-MLA court erred in acquitting Mukhtar.The gang-chart was given as a documentary record.Mukhtar is a gangster and he is suspected of committed many offences and was found guilty of violating the section 23 Gangsters Act.
