Municipal schools will be included into the Andhra Pradesh Department of Education.

State government to integrate all public schools into a single command center for better monitoring and control of academics . Decision backed by MLCs from the teachers constituencies, which were part of the Left parties .

AMARAVATI: The state government has announced that it would integrate all public schools into a single command center for better monitoring and control of academics. The government has opted to immediately hand over all municipal schools to the school education department in order to ensure smooth operation of public schools. The governments decision has been backed by the MLCs from the teachers constituencies, which were part of the Left parties. These independent MLCs, it's interesting, have swayed against the state's education reforms.

However, the municipal schools' assets will remain with the local authorities. The municipal administration had exercised caution in transferring municipal teachers to the school education department in light of the trial pending in the Supreme Court over the merger of services provided by ZPMPP schools into government schools. There is no difference in the promotional avenues and the degree of experience of municipal teachers. All benefits which the school education department gives to the governmentZPMPP schools teachers will be extended to municipal teachers, including notional increases to special teachers, PF facilities, promotions, and transfers, which are more beneficial to the municipal teachers than in the present scenario, said Y Srilakshmi, special chief secretary (municipal administration and urban development).

The decision to transfer the municipal schools to the school education department aimed at ensuring that the teachers are kept up-to-date with the ZP school teachers and also to follow the single academic calendar. In a similar way, the ZPMPP schools were also transferred to the school education department. The Urban Local Authorities (ULBs) must perform its basic duties and establish various government programsschemes for delivering the basic services to the urban population. The ULBs' primary job is to provide education.

S Ramakrishna, the president of the Municipal Teachers Federation (MTF), slammed the change. The decision was made without consulting the municipal teachers.According to Ramakrishna, the step is fueled by a conspiracy.
