The YSRCP, led by Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, also accepted Murmus canidadature as part of the Presidential election.Murmus's bid has also put him and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief and Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren in a bind.Since JMM is running a coalition government with Congress in Jharkhand, it would be difficult for Soren to oppose Murmu's bid.Gowda is a viable Murmu candidate; JD(S) has yet to respond to a call.

Though Droupadi Murmu, the party's chairman and former Prime Minister, was described as appropriate and non-controversial by the party, the party has yet to make a final decision.Murmu, he said, does not want to be confused with a tribal candidate.He said she was fit for the position of President.
