NAGPUR: Kendra Pramukhs at Zilla Parishads are demanding a permanent travel allowance at the same rate as gram sewaks, which are paid monthly, because they have to endure a lot of travel in villages. The association representing kendra pramukhs has urged the state government to act as soon as possible. The gram sevaks in ZP are paid Rs 1,650 per month, but we are not getting anything at the moment. They didn't stop it for a long time.

On a per-gram basis, Bhandarkar said, a gram sevak visits only one or two villages.Despite this, the state government has given them a yearly travel allowance. Our members live between ten to fifteen villages, and yet they haven't received anything, said Bhandarkar. Moreover, he explained that kendra pramukhs are dealing with three to five gram panchayats, which is why their typical village tour is much more expensive than gram sevaks.

Our association is now raising its voice to ensure that kendra pramukhs get what is due to them, Bhandarkar explained.
