Mahindra has been testing the upcoming Scorpio (Z101) on Indian roads for a long time now.Mahindra released a teaser video revealing some of the SUV's headlight, side profile, and rear-left corner just a few days ago, and now spy pictures of the vehicle have surfaced online, showing the entire construction. The SUV's overall layout is remarkably muscular, as shown in the teased photos.Mahindra has created a vertical grille style that extends to become the double-barrel headlamps at the front. The model shown here sports the old Mahindra badge, while the one seen here sporting the Twin Peaks Mahindra logo on the XUV700 is something that is a little strange.Moving on to the downside, the new Scorpio gets a new set of diamond-cut alloy wheels, which are likely 17-inches, and a slightly raked chrome beltline rising from the C-pillar.The 2022 Scorpio has vertically mounted tail lamps and a side-opening tailgate, so it's a good choice for the back. The rear bumper has a slightly flatter profile than the previous model, which is similar to the current model. Moving on to the inside, the cabins are expected to be all new, with a much bigger touchscreen, vertically mounted AC vents, and some interior details common to the XUV700 Powertrain options. The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio is expected to have both Petrol and Diesel engines.Though the XUV700's engines will be integrated into it, it could be fitted with a different style with lower power outputs. The diesel version of the Mahindra Scorpio is expected to have two output options, as shown by the XUV 700. On some variants of the new Scorpio, an AWD or 4x4 with a low-range option will also be available. When the Mahindra Scorpio is launched, it will compete with the Tata Safari, MG Hector, and Hyundai Alcazar. The new SUV will be produced at Mahindras Chakan plant. The XUV700 will cost between Rs 12 to 19 lakh (ex-showroom).
