New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Monday that enforcement agencies should increase their alertness and crack down on major drug dealers who are importing mountains of illicit drugs into India, and that the government needs to figure out if the country is becoming a consuming state.Ms Sitharaman said that each one of these (smuggling) cases must come to a conclusion at the least possible time, and that the DRI must make sure that the major handlers of such smuggling activities adhere to the laws of the land. There is a need for more access to a bilateral agreement with foreign countries, Ms Sitharaman said, as technology has allowed us to do things that before were impossible.According to an annual report published by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, India has the G-20 presidency and should use it to host a two-day meeting to see how international cooperation can be achieved.
