New Delhi (India) December 8, 2015: After BJP defeated the Janata Dal (United) in a Kurhani Assembly bypoll, former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi resigned on Thursday.The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claimed the Kurhani Assembly seat by 3,645 votes, defeating the Janata Dal (United).The Election Commission announced on Thursday that BJP's Kedar Prasad Gupta won the bypoll with 76,722 votes, while JD (U)s Manoj Kushwaha Singh received 73,073.Sushil Kumar Modi, a member of the Gopalganj and now Kurhani Assembly Bypoll, said after the loss, Nitish Kumar should resign.

People want change now, and Nitish Kumar should understand the time and resign from his position, according to him.Sushil Modi praised the Kurhani Assembly's voters for defeating JDU candidate and preserving faith in BJP, saying, We thank the Kurhani voters for trusting BJP.I would also like to thank our staff for their contributions to ensuring the party's success, he said.The poll results show that BJP will win every election in Bihar with a thumping majority, he said.
