Istanbul, Turkey, May 14: Nitu (48 kg), the 2017 Youth World Champion, continued her fine form and advanced to the semifinals of the 12th edition of the IBA Womens World Boxing Championships in Istanbul on Saturday, defeating Spains Lopez Del Arbol by unanimous decision.The Bhiwani boxer displayed unbridled enthusiasm and quickness to launch precise punches.Nitu upped the ante in the next two rounds and carried on with her attacking style without giving up on her opponent, winning the tournament by 5-0.Manisha (57 kg) will meet Bulgaria's Alua Balkibekova in the quarter-finals on Monday.In the last 11 editions of the tournament, which took place in Russia in 2019, Indian boxers earned one silver and three bronze medals, including Nikhat (52kg) and Youth Asian bronze medalist Yesugen Oyuntsetseg (54kg), while Parveen (60kg) will face Australias Angela Harries.Indians won one silver and three bronze medals in the final edition of the IBA Women's World Boxing Championships, which were held in Russia in 2019.
