NOIDA: The traffic police will issue challans to violators caught on their body cameras. At present, cops have 70 such cameras. The step is part of a strategy to improve the police's working style and efficiency.Body cameras are also provided to traffic cops, according to Ganesh Prasad Saha, DCP (traffic) in GB Nagar.

This is particularly important because people claim to have been unfairly judged at times.Such claims are minimized by the video footage. We have also decided to give challans to violators who are caught in body-work cameras, according to Saha. The traffic police will use the footage to issue challans if suspected offenses such as speeding, red light jumping, and tripling are caught on camera.

On Thursday, the traffic police provided instruction to its staff and 75 point-of-sale (POS) machines to issue challans and receive payments on the spot. These POS machines have been given to the Noida traffic department by Lucknow's traffic center.According to the DCP traffic, 50 traffic cops were also given earbuds to shield them from sound and vibration. For eight hours, the traffic police officers are stationed at different crossings.

They will also be protected from dust pollution. The earbuds aren't compatible with smartphones and can't be used as a music player, he explained.
