Odisha: BJP protest over farmers' demands enters its seventh day

Opposition led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress, staged a protest in the House . Opposition says the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) minister and MLAs protested in front of Gandhi statue .

Bhubaneshwar (Odisha) (India) – BJP MLA Prithviraj Harichandan said on Friday that the Odisha government is facing the farmers' demands for the seventh day in a row, and that the Biju Janta Dal government is in violation of his poll promises to the farmers.However, despite receiving the farmers' compensation, the government is only giving Rs 4000 as a reward.When making a bid, the government also gave Rs 100 as a quintal bonus in 2016.BJP has, however, said that so far no assistance has been given to the Odisha government, advising them that if they fail to fulfill their promise, the CM and his ministers will not be permitted to set foot on the states' territory.

Following a ruckus in the assembly, the Winter session in Odisha Assembly was postponed until 4 p.m. on Friday.Earlier on Thursday, the Opposition, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress, staged a protest in the House, slowing the proceedings of the session.After the assembly was postponed twice, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) minister and MLAs protested in front of the Gandhi statue, demanding an MSP of paddy Rs 2930 from the Odisha governor.Congress MLA Adhiraj Panigrahi accused the BJD of operating in the Honeytrap issue and distracting the public from the sex scandal issue.
