BHUBANESWAR: In their official meetings and conferences, the state agriculture department has asked all other government departments to serve millet-based snacks.To encourage the consumption of this nutritious crop, the agriculture department has started serving such snacks during its regular meetings.In a letter sent to additional chief secretariesprincipal secretariessecretaries of all departments by departments chief secretary Arabinda Kumar Padhee on Wednesday, the department's principal secretary made this request.Ranendra Pratap Swain, India's agriculture minister, has also tweeted about it.

Millet Shakti outlets have been established in Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Bhubaneswar as part of the states' OMM initiative, according to the letter.In Odisha, a variety of millets are produced, including barnyard, pearl, foxtail, kodo, and sorghum.Many other food items derived from these plants are made by self-help organizations such as dosa, samosa, boondi laddu, coconut rice, mango rice, muduki, pakoda, halwa, modak, kheer, and cookies.
