Odisha: Stitching 2.5 lakh national flags after hours

Around 700 women self-help organizations in 14 out of 22 blocks in Ganjam district are engaged in making 2.50 lakh tricolours . Each flag measures 20x30 inches in length .

BERHAMPUR (Berhampuri): To commemorate the 75th anniversary of independence, Sarita Pradhan has been devoted to stitching national flags into government buildings in Ganjam district.But Sarita, 30, isn't the only one, as the secretary of a tailoring group in Podamari under Mission Shakti is not the only one.Around 700 women self-help organizations in 14 out of 22 blocks in the district are engaged in making 2.50 lakh tricolours.According to Jharna Moharana of Khallikote, one of the SHG members, the program will not only earn us extra income but also lift the patriotic spirit among the population.

Each flag measures 20x30 inches in length.All the flags must be completed before August 9.We have engaged 32 employees to meet the target, according to Madhumita Pradhan, president of Sanakhemundi's Jay Bajarangi tailoring company.SHG members' flags will be displayed on government buildings throughout the district to commemorate 75 years of independence, according to Keerthi Vasan V, CEO of zilla parishad, Ganjam.
