Kheda: According to community leaders, up to 1,400 Muslim voters from Undhela village in Gujarat's Kheda district boycotted voting during the second phase of the state Assembly elections in protest against police flogging of some men from the village two months earlier.Poll officials denied the claim saying there was no boycott call.Community leaders in Undhela village, in Matar taluka, said on Monday that all 1,400 Muslim voters of the total 3,700 voters in the village joined the demonstration and refused to exercise their vote, prompting an outrage.Local Muslim leader Maqbul Saiyad said that the movement was part of police's one-sided approach.According to Kheda Collector KL Bachani, no police officers have been suspended for their misdeeds so far, but there has been no boycott call, according to the Returning Officers survey.
