Patna (Patna): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar declared on Wednesday that the country needs one nation, one tariff system, and that some states will be required to purchase electricity at a higher rate than others.Unveiling Power Department projects worth Rs 15,871 crore, he said, Bihar receives electricity from the central governments power plants at a higher rate than other states.I have said this before that there should be a one country, one power tariff system as a rule. Why is it that some states get electricity at higher rates from the central government's generation units?Mr Kumar said that a uniform electricity rate should exist in the region. He said that his government has decided to install smart prepaid electricity meters in the state to ensure accountability.

When asked about such schemes in other states, I am least bothered by those who claim to provide free electricity, according to Mr Kumar. In October 2018, when we had the opportunity to serve the citizens of Bihar, the state's electricity consumption was just 700 mw.It has now increased to 6,738 mw, according to his statement.
