Pillion rider killed in Beypore when electricity pole falls on him in Kozhikode

A young pillion rider was killed and another was wounded when a KSEB power pole fell on their motorcycle . The shooting took place near Beypore Milma Diary about 12 p.m.

KOZHIKODE: On Thursday, a young pillion rider was killed and another was wounded when a KSEB power pole fell on their motorcycle at Naduvattam near Beypore.Arjun, the son of Machakkal Babu, a resident of Kallingal near Beypore, was named as the deceased.In the crash, his bicycle was damaged by a minor injury.The shooting took place near Beypore Milma Diary about 12 p.m., according to police.

Although Arjun was admitted to the hospital, he died there.According to reports, the KSEB contract workers carried out their dismantling duties without taking proper precautions to avoid accidents.KSEB stifled traffic on the busy Meenchanda-Beypore highway when carrying out the work.Following the shooting, residents staged a smear campaign against KSEB.

The youths' deaths were attributed to KSEB officials, who did nothing to protect the general population on the road, they said, and they called for urgent action against those responsible for the accident.Though police intervened and tried to calm the enraged demonstrators, they weren't able to stop the road blockade.In addition, authorities gave a Rs 10 lakh compensation to the family of the man who was killed in the shooting, and then the demonstrators dispersed their blockade.Due to the massive demonstration, Beypore police have increased the perimeter at the electricity office near the hospital.
