The Centre is considering the proposals submitted by various states, and they are being evaluated on various criteria such as connectivity to the site, ecosystem for development of the textiles industry, state-friendly agriculture, and availability of utilities. The state government has filed a proposal for the establishment of a park in Gopalpur, Ganjam district, which comprises about 1,000 acres of land in Tata Steel's special economic zone.Because of the states' advantages in the textiles industry, we are optimistic that the Center will consider Odishas' proposal to create a textile park under the PM-MITRA initiative. The location where we have proposed this park is also a strategic one, according to the official.
