Political turmoil in Maharashtra: Uddhav resigns as the SC approves the floor test, and Fadnavis will take over as CM once more

MUMBAI (MUMBAI)-The Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra collapsed late Wednesday evening after nine days of intense military turmoil.Muddhav Thackeray resigned as head of the three-party Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress (MVA) alliance just minutes after the Supreme Court declared that the floor test in the Maharashtra assembly would begin on Thursday.With Thackeray's departure out of the office, governor B S Koshyari will soon invite BJPs Devendra Fadnavis, the leader of opposition, to lead the new government.Fadnavis will return for his third term as CM, while Eknath Shinde, the party's rebel leader, will most likely be the deputy CM after the party lost 39 out of 55 MLAs.

We are in the process of staking claim for the government, according to Fadnavis.The formalities may take up to two days.
