Birmingham (UK), August 7 : Pooja Sihag, an Indian wrestler, won the bronze medal in the Womens Freestyle 76kg category final after a dominant showing against Australias Naomi de Bruine in the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2022.Pooja claimed the 11th medal for India in wrestling this Games by defeating de Bruine in the bronze medal match at Coventry Arena Wrestling Mat B. Pooja started the round on an aggressive note, trying to find a pinfall in order to win, but the Aussie wrestler was showing grit and determination to keep alive in the round, taking an 8-0 lead in the first round.Pooja put on a strong show as she showed her dominance over Australia's Naomi de Bruine and held her in a tight hold throughout the contest.Pooja managed to hold her ground well against her opponent in the final three minutes to finish with a bronze medal.

On Saturday, she defeated Christine Lemofack Letchidjio of Scotland at the Coventry Arena Wrestling Mat B. Ravi Dahiya, on the other hand, extended Indias medal haul at the Commonwealth Games 2022 by winning the gold medal, his first at the CWG, in the mens freestyle 57kg class in wrestling.In the gold medal match, Dahiya defeated Ebikewenimo Welson 10-0 for technical superiority.Vinesh Phogat, on the other hand, won the gold medal in the women's freestyle 53kg category after defeating Sri Lanka's Chamodya Keshani Maduravalage.Phogat took the trophy by fall for two minutes and 24 seconds.
