Vijayawada (India): Based on projected demand between July and October 2022, AP power utilities have devised a short-term strategy to purchase power ranging from 500 MW to 1,500 MW daily.The step is part of a larger push to remedy the coal shortage.To combat the state's coal shortage, APGENCO & AP Power Development Corporation Limited (APPDCL) took early steps to import 31 lakh tonnes of coal.On Thursday, energy minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy held a meeting with power providers via videoconference and advised them to take the necessary steps to tackle the coal crisis predicted in the next two months.

In this context, it was determined to purchase a quantity of power ranging from 500 MW to 1,500 MW per day from July to October, during the morning peak demand hours.
