Rajkot: A craftsman flees with 21 lakh gold

Nazir Hussain Sheikh, the owner of a shop in Soni Bazar, filed a lawsuit against artisan Mukbar Mandal . Mandal said when Sheikh contacted him about the work on June 17, he was putting the finishing touches to the earrings and would complete the work as soon as possible .

RAJKOT (Rajkot): In another incident, a West Bengal artisan fled with gold worth Rs 20.88 lakh from a shop where he was working in Rajkot.Nazir Hussain Sheikh, the owner of a shop in Soni Bazar, filed a lawsuit against artisan Mukbar Mandal after the latter could not be located for four days.Sheikh, a West Bengali, had received an invitation to make gold earrings on June 15 and had given Mandal 390 grams of gold to make 75 pieces.Mandal said when Sheikh contacted him about the work on June 17, he was putting the finishing touches to the earrings and would complete the work as soon as possible.

When Sheikh called him, he noticed that Mandals mobile phone was off and that he was not alone at his house.Sheikh filed a complaint with A-division police on Thursday after discovering he had fled to West Bengal.Bijoy Maiti, a man from Alip Dei's unit, fled with gold worth Rs 24 lakh three days earlier.
