Lucknow: On Saturday, Union defence minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh sought a proposal for the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Lucknow.Singh said, in response to the IITR scientist Rajneesh Chaturvedi's proposal to encourage research by establishing an IISER in Lucknow, Send me a note on it.Chaturvedi, one of the intellectuals present at the Namaste Lucknow with Rajnath Singh, a Lucknow Intellectual Foundation event, said that an institute like IISER is required to increase the importance of research in UP.There are currently seven IISERs in Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Bhopal, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati, and Berhampur.
