Surat, Apr.9, is a holiday that falls on the International Day of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.On Thursday, a rally was held in the city to raise awareness of drug use.The rally that was taken out from Anuvrat Dwar to Parle Point featured top brass of the police department and the Narcotics Control Bureau, as well as prominent citizens and college students.

Participants were carrying placards with letters referring to substance abuse.Before the rally, which was presided by the city police commissioner, a meeting of the district-level Narco Coordination Center was held.Several officers from various government departments participated in the event, including NCB, public health, social justice, court, coast guard, food and drug administration, forest, education, and collector office.The usual supply chains of drugs have been destroyed in the city, and drug dealers are looking for other routes.

The city police also traced and arrested drug dealers in Mumbai, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Himalayachal Pradesh over the past two years.Police have seized synthetic opioids, opium, ganja, and charas supply chains.
