LUCKNOW: The last place to expect culinary delights is a prison cell.Ranveer Singh Brar, a celebrity chef who has worked with him to brighten up the meals served to prisoners in Uttar Pradesh's prisons, may be able to change that opinion.The prison department and the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBD), the premier wing of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, have initiated the program.Anand Kumar, the director general of prisons, said that the Lucknow-born chef would advise prisoners to try out new dishes for their meals.

Ranveer will begin operations in Model Lucknow Jail and Nari Bandi Niketan on Monday, according to the police officer.The entire schedule of the chef has been decided in coordination with the NIESBD.Kumar said that packaging will be taught to them as part of entrepreneurship growth, not just cooking.In the first phase, cooking, weaving, and embroidery will be taught at Lucknow Model Jail and Nari Bandi Niketan, and after this success, the model will be replicated in other state prisons.

According to the directions, we have already formed four batches of 25 people each, who will be working with the chef and improving their cooking skills, the officer said.The top chef would also prepare the prisoners to prepare a wider variety of confectionery items from the bakery, which has been underway on the prison campus since late last year, according to the officer.The intention is to not only add cookies and biscuits to it, but also teach the prisoners how to pack them so it can be sold out in the open market.According to him, we are now offering a 100 gram bun for just Rs 5 and can be ordered from the jail's headquarters.
