New Delhi: According to a trade notice, the directorate general of foreign trade has urged its regional authorities to issue registration of contracts to wheat exporters who have irrevocable letters of credit, so that they may honor their contracts.The move came after the government banned wheat exports but allowed overseas exports for which irrevocable LoC (Letters of Credit) have been issued on or before May 13.The DGFT has also stated that wheat exports on humanitarian ground shall be allowed on a case About 50% of total wheat exports were exported to Bangladesh in the last fiscal, according to commerce secretary B V R Subrahmanyam, and another 1.2 million tonnes are expected to be exported in April and May, according to the report.India's reputation as a trustworthy provider is also maintained.
