According to a survey released by the Association for Democratic Reforms, at least 51% of the 250 newly elected councillors in the MCD have reported educational qualifications between Classes 5 and Class 12, while 66% are in the 41-70 age bracket, according to the Association for Democratic Reforms.Of the 266 councillors for whom data was available, 139 (52%) were women in 2017.In 2017, there were 270 wards of the then three municipal corporations.The number of wards in the MCD decreased to 250 following delimitation earlier this year....126 (51%) winning candidates have stated their educational qualification to be between the 5th and the 12th pass, while 116 (47 percent) winning candidates have stated their educational qualification to be graduate and above.
According to the report, 84 (34%) winning candidates declared their age to be between 21 and 40 years, while 164 (66 percent) winning candidates declared their age to be between 41 and 70 years, earning 134 seats while restraint the BJP to 104.The Congress won just nine seats, while three wards went to Independent candidates.The results were announced on Wednesday.
