Residents demand the Petta Jn development

Residents are calling for a Petta Junction on Vyttila-Tripunithura Road . Elderly people as well as schoolgoing children find it difficult to cross the road .

Kochi: The call for a Petta Junction on Vyttila-Tripunithura Road is getting louder, according to Mayor Roy Thekkan of the Mukkottil Temple Road Residents Association, since the lack of facilities at the junction is causing inconvenience to commuters. They are attempting to reopen the median or dividers in the junction and replace bus shelters that were removed in response to the Kochi Metro Extension projects. Now passengers are waiting for buses in the open space. At this busy junction, there are no zebra lines, and elderly people as well as schoolgoing children find it difficult to cross the road, he said.He also cited the absence of a traffic island, which puts the traffic warden on duty to control traffic at the junction in jeopardy.

This only contributes to the woes of car movement here, he said.We have already approached the managing director of Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL), Kochi City police commissioner, and Uma Thomas, MLA, requesting this.
