New Delhi, December 8, : The Supreme Court reserved its decision on a series of petitions challenging Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra governments' laws allowing bull-taming activities such as Jallikattu and bullock cart races on Thursday, arguing that the state can use the sport for human entertainment or amusement, and that bulls involved in Jallikattu are kept by farmers around the year.The Supreme Court had earlier ruled that the petitions demanding that states have the authority to pass the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Tamil Nadu Amendment) Act, 2017 was rejected by a larger bench because it raised questions about the Constitution's interpretation.PETA had earlier argued that Jallikattu and bullock cart racing were forbidden in the state and bullock cart races were illegal in Maharashtra.
