SC rejects NGO Roots in Kashmir's request for a remedy to look into the murders and flight of Kashmiri Pandits.

Supreme Court dismisses petition by Roots in Kashmir, an NGO, seeking investigation into killing of Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley in 1989-90 . The petition sought instructions to make the case on merit by allowing the parties a hearing opportunity .

New Delhi, December 8, : The Supreme Court dismissed a curative petition filed by Roots in Kashmir, an NGO, seeking an investigation into the killing of Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley in 1989-90, during the height of militancy.According to the Supreme Court, no lawsuit is made out within the parameters stipulated in the decision of this Court, Rupa Ashok Hurra vs. Ashok Hurra, according to the supreme court.The curative petition was dismissed on July 24, 2017, after the NGOs' petition for investigation was dismissed due to a long delay.The appeals was dismissed by the top court on October 25, 2017.

It took account of the 1984 Anti-Sikh riots case, in which the court had given notice of the incident after a period of more than 33 years.According to the curative petition, the Delhi High Court reopened five cases concerning Anti-Sikh riots in a decision of the year 1986, and the special court in Lucknow granted the appeal of CBI and turned the case over to the Special Court in Raibarali, disregarding the fact that cases have now been filed in all FIRs since the year 1996, as the petition said.
