SC urges government: Take severe action to stop unlawful mining

Rajasthan has been asked to take strict measures to reduce illicit bajri mining . The court held on May 12 provided that, within two weeks, the state would issue an affidavit detailing the actions taken to combat illicit mining and stop the transport of illicitly mined minerals .

Jaipur, India: The state government has been asked to take strict measures to reduce illicit bajri mining as well as tractors' transport of illegally mined minerals.The court held on May 12 provided that, within two weeks, the state would issue an affidavit detailing the actions taken to combat illicit mining and stop the transport of illicitly mined minerals.According to Naveen Sharma, a petitioner, there are about 20,000 unregistered tractors in the state that were mainly used as agricultural equipment.However, these tractors with trailers are being used to transport illegally mined gold.

Despite the orders of the court, the state has taken steps to tackle the social hazard of illicit mining.He said that a large number of FIRs have been issued and that steps have been taken to stop illicit mining and transportation of illegally mined mineral.In November 2021, the Supreme Court granted notice to sand mining in the state's riverbeds and accepted the recommendations made by a central empowered commission (CEC) that was established to look into the situation.
