Sensex drops more than 410 points to drop below the 61k mark, while Nifty holds onto 18,000

Sensex Sensex fell over 410 points to close below 61,000 mark on Thursday . Axis Bank was the biggest loser in the sensex group, losing 3.54% .

In the midst of a soaring demand in global markets, the equity benchmark sensex fell over 410 points to close below the 61,000 mark on Thursday, monitoring weakness in M&M, Bajaj Finserv, and Reliance Industries.According to traders, a depreciating rupee has also weighed on domestic equity markets.In a tense session, the 30-share BSE sensex dropped 419.85 points or 0.69% lower to 60,613.70.The index moved between a high of 60,848.73 and a low of 60,425.47.

Axis Bank was the biggest loser in the sensex group, losing 3.54 percent, followed by Bajaj Finserv, Titan, M&M, Bajaj Finance, and IndusInd Bank.In contrast, HDFC twins, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Bank, Dr Reddys, and HUL were the losers, up to 1.13 percent.Shanghai, Tokyo, Seoul, and Hong Kong bourses closed with significant losses elsewhere in Asia.During the afternoon session, stock exchanges in Europe were also in the negative zone.

According to exchange statistics, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) remained net buyers in the Indian capital market on Wednesday, purchasing shares worth Rs 386.83 crore.
